IRCC expands their use of Advanced Data Analytics for TRV applications

IRCC have announced they will be expanding their use of advanced data analytics, in order to increase the processing efficiency for Temporary Resident Visa (TRV) applications.
There has been an increased volume of applications for TRV, and with the use of advanced data analytics, IRCC is hoping to accelerate their work. Routine applications can be identified for streamlined processing, helping ease the burden on immigration officers. IRCC have stated that the data analytics system cannot refuse an application – only an IRCC officer can do this based on individual judgement.
Advanced data analytics has been used by IRCC since 2018 and has helped to organise and process over 1 million applications for TRV. IRCC states that straightforward and routine files have been shown to be identified 87% faster using this system, meaning many people are able to receive a decision much faster.
It is unknown if this change will lead to a noticeable increase in the number of applications processed and help to reduce the growing backlog, but it sounds like a step in the right direction and a much welcomed technical upgrade to IRCC processing power.
